Three tips for a good thrift trip

Thrift shopping is a treasure hunt, and some shops are better at it than others. A charity thrift store, a consignment shop and a vintage dealer all sell used things, but they feel very different when you walk in.

This lens helps you pick the right kind of shop for the hunt you are on. Stock changes every day, so each page says what the shop is known for and leaves the finds to you.

  1. Go with one thing in mind, like a lamp or a winter coat, and stay open to a surprise.
  2. Check seams, zippers, drawers and plugs before you get to the register.
  3. Ask when new items go out. Many shops put out fresh stock on set days.
